Lessons
Contemporary guitar and ukulele lessons are available for students of all levels. I am an experienced music educator having successfully taught students from primary school through to working careers in music.
I am able to offer students a well rounded musical education which encompasses fundamental literacy skills through to practical stage craft. While music as a language can be learnt conversationally, I do lament the lack of musical literacy in contemporary musicians and teachers and advocate for basic musical literacy skills, especially in my younger students. I have developed a syllabus for primary and high school guitar students which aims to prepare them for a contemporary music program in University.
I have also developed my own Jazz Guitar Workshop course which seeks to demystify the language of jazz for guitarists.

The Jazz Guitar Workshop
The JGW course was designed as a highly practical and intuitive method of learning the jazz guitar as a language. The original aim of the course was to teach jazz guitar conversationally to introduce a wider range of musicians, beginning and professional, to the language of jazz. No pre-requisite musical literacy skills are required.
There is an abundance of material available in the marketplace for the aspiring jazz guitarist. However, this wealth of available information can often lead to confusion and eventually frustration for the student in determining which skills, techniques and concepts need to be learned, and in what order, to play jazz guitar.
I have developed the JGW syllabus to provide a simple and practical guide through the many exciting musical concepts that the language of jazz brings to the guitar to save aspiring jazz guitar students the frustration I personally went through in trying to find my way through the confusing number of teaching materials available. Students will:
- learn practical skills which can be put to use in songs immediately;
- be guided through the essential foundations required in a practical order to ensure a more efficient learning process;
- be shown what skills and concepts are crucial, and more importantly what are not, to develop a basis in jazz guitar;
- develop firm foundations for rapid and efficient future musical development.
While the jazz guitar course was designed for intermediate students, Students of all levels are welcome. Basics required for lower level students to make full use of the jazz guitar syllabus can be covered to ensure the establishment of proper musical foundations.
Private lessons, online lessons, seminars and workshops are available. Please contact me for enquiries.
